Dirty job for distribution workers

DISTRIBUTION centre workers got their hands dirty last week to help clean up rubbish close to their depots.

To celebrate World Environment Day workers from the Marsh Leys distribution centre in Kempston spent two hours of their own time clearing rubbish from around their depots.

The event was organised by Sainsbury’s DHL depot who enlisted the help of others from Argos, DHL and Asda to create a team of 18 volunteers.

A spokesman for the group, said: “All volunteers across the depots worked really hard and were very enthusiastic, managing to collect an amazing 30 bags of rubbish in total.

“There were some interesting finds as we covered the area, including the remains of a mattress. We had very positive feedback and everyone enjoyed the day, which was a great success and one we hope to repeat in the future.

“Thanks to everyone who took part and to Bedford Borough Council for providing all the equipment.”
