Did you see two men robbing taxi driver?

A PRIVATE hire vehicle driver was robbed of £50 while parked in his minibus outside a convenience store in Bedford on Saturday evening (January 28).

Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident at around 5.50pm by the Nisa store in Fenlake Road.

The victim was in a blue Ford Transit minibus when he was approached by two male offenders. They threatened him and stole around £50 before fleeing along London Road towards the town centre.

The first offender is described as white, in his mid to late 20s, around 5ft 6ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing a grey hooded top and also had a scarred face.

His accomplice was also white, in his early 20s, around 6ft tall and of slim build. He was wearing a brown baseball cap and a grey hooded top,

Detective Constable Surinder Ram said: “This was an opportunistic attack carried out on a man who was going about his daily business and has now been left distressed by the robbery.

“We are in the process of examining CCTV footage that was taken in the area where the offence took place but I’d particularly like to hear from two women who were in the area and may have seen the offenders as they committed the robbery.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who was nearby at the time of the robbery, or anyone else who may have information – however small or insignificant they think it is – that could help us. Don’t dismiss your information as unimportant – even tiny details which don’t seem relevant now might become useful later on in the investigation.”

If you have information relating to this incident, contact Det Con Ram, in confidence, on 01234 275011, the non-emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
