A 17-year-old boy had to have surgery after an assault at KFC in Tavistock Street, Bedford in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The incident happened at around 1.15am as a result of a confrontation between a group of boys. There has been a confrontation between a larger group outside the restaurant, but a smaller group entered KFC where the youth was assaulted and received a broken jaw. He was taken to the Luton & Dunstable Hospital where he underwent surgery. Police are now looking to speak to independent witnesses to the assault.
