Detectives search for burglars
Bedfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after three houses were targeted by burglars in Flitwick in a very short timescale.
Detectives are linking the two burglaries and one attempted burglary which all happened between 7.15am on Friday January 25 and 12.45am on Saturday January 26.
The first incident happened sometime between 5pm and 7.30pm at a property in Gravel Pit Road.
The offenders smashed a window in the back door to gain entry to the property and stole a flat screen television and numerous items of jewellery.
The second burglary took place in Byron Crescent sometime between 7.15am on Friday and 12.45am on Saturday.
Again, the offenders entered the property by smashing a window pane in the backdoor before searching the property and removing a laptop and escaping in the victim’s black Ford Focus.
An attempted burglary also took place in Millwright Way sometime between 8.30am and 9pm the same day.
The offenders broke a glass pane in the front door and tried to reach the lock but as the door had been securely fastened the offenders left empty handed.
Detective Constable Andy Boston, who is investigating the burglary, is keen to hear from anyone who was in Gravel Pit Road, Byron Crescent or Millwright Way on Friday and may have seen anything suspicious.
DC Boston said: “Burglaries are not that common in Flitwick so to have three offences on the same day in such a close proximity is very unusual.
“We want to find the offenders as quickly as possible to stop them from causing more misery to residents in the town and recover the items that have been taken.
“We would really like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or anyone else who may have information – however small or insignificant they think it is – that could help us.
“Don’t dismiss your information as unimportant – even tiny details which don’t seem relevant now might become useful later on in the investigation.”
If you have information relating to this incident, contact DC Boston, in confidence, on 01234 275340, the non-emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011. Alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
