A teenager from Harrold is hoping to reach the final of Britain’s Got Talent.
Ed Jones, 18, part of five-man dance act Cartel, is competing in the Britain’s Got Talent live ITV semi finals tonight, Wednesday, May 28.
Ed, who works in the Harrold Country Park Cafe when he is not practising with his dance troupe, said: “There are nine acts on our live semi-final show and only two go through with potentially one more through a wild card.
“We are nervous but we’ve been working really hard. We normally practice after our day jobs have finished and we sometimes do 6pm to midnight.
“We are comfortable about our set and we’ve said: ‘Let’s just enjoy the experience and see what happens.”
Ed and Cartel hit the headlines when judge Simon Cowell demanded that one of their number leave the show because he was too old.
Ed tantalisingly revealed : “Our eldest member James has left the show - but there may be a surprise tonight.”
The group are also still getting to grips with their newfound fame.
Ed said: “We keep getting people taking discreet shots of us on their mobile phones - it’s the weirdest thing! We were in Nando’s the other day and lots of people kept trying to take photos of us. We also get asked for our autographs now - I have got the worst autograph in the world.
“I love dancing. If we were to win the show it would mean the world to me as it would mean I would never have to serve coffee ever again!”
You can see if Ed and his fellow Cartel members make it onto the final of Britain’s Got Talent tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
