A dance studio that helps get “bad boys” off the streets is in danger of closing, as it cannot afford to run the building.

Studio 18, based in The Broadway, Bedford, has
already been forced to close one studio in the same building, and owners say they can no longer to afford to keep the other one open.

Owner Rio Lounies, 27, is now appealing to people who may be to offer the dance club any investment.

He said: “We are just about coping to pay the rent at the moment, but even that’s a struggle. We are not bothered about making a profit, but we are losing money now, we have dipped into our own pockets.

“I wanted to run my own
studio to offer young people, who are like me when I was that age, the opportunity to dance. I wasn’t bothered about school, I just wanted to learn how to do back-flips. I just wanted to dance.

“I wanted to help the
so-called bad boys, and get them off the streets.

“It’s really sad, but at the rate things are going I’m not going to be able to stay open for much longer. I’ve got £600 worth of bills from BedfordBID that I can’t pay, I think there should be more help out there for small businesses like us.”

BedfordBID is an umbrella organisation that helps promote businesses in the town. Small firms pay the group a levy charge of £300 a year.

A spokesman said: “575
businesses in Bedford pay the BID levy charge, most of which pay on time.

“The money is used by the BID to promote and support the trading environment in Bedford, which benefits all businesses. “
