The Bedford leg of the first international race Women’s Tour was launched this morning.
The world’s best female cyclists will race through the streets of Bedford Borough on Thursday, May 8 when The Women’s Tour heads our way.
The event is the country’s first ever international stage race for women and will see the world’s very best cyclists racing wheel to wheel through the streets of Bedford this Spring.
Today (Wednesday) Helen Wyman, a leading international cyclist from Bedfordshire was joined by the Mayor of Bedford Borough Dave Hodgson, Guy Elliott, director of the event organiser SweetSpot, along with sponsors the University of Bedfordshire, The Harpur Trust and BedfordBID to officially launch the Bedford stage.
Mayor of Bedford Dave Hodgson said: “The Women’s Tour will bring the world’s best female cyclists to Bedford Borough this May.
“The sight of elite cyclists racing through the streets of Bedford Borough will provide a tremendous spectacle for people of all ages to enjoy.
“With a range of activities and events taking place on the day, this is set to be an extremely exciting sporting occasion for the Borough.”
Helen has won multiple national and European championships and has also represented Great Britain on numerous occasions.
