Crunch clash, American-style!
AMERICAN football stars met with students who took part in a dual school match at the Bunyan Centre.
On February 17 pupils from Hastingssbury Upper School visited students at the Academy to play tag American Football.
The event was the first ever indoor tag game of American Football played between two schools in Bedfordshire.
Also present on the day were local American football team, Bedfordshire Blueraiders, who were on hand to offer both teams support and advice.
Academy teacher Michael Cox, who helped to coordinate the day, said: “American Football, an alternative sport, has really engaged students at our academy and encouraged them to represent the establishment in local fixtures.
“The School Sports Partnership have funded a coach, Julien Fuller, to coach American football in many local upper schools which led to the academy fixture against Hastingsbury Upper.
“The academy are lucky enough to have a local club link with Bedfordshire Blue Raiders, where academy students can visit on weekends to continue to learn and compete in the sport with the Blue Raiders Youth Team. The youth team train alongside the adult team at Bedford Athletic Stadium on Sundays.”
