Craft, kite making and cookery at Dunstable Downs fair

Event marked final day of summer festival

Families flocked to Dunstable Downs and the Chiltern Gateway Centre on Sunday, September 5, for the final day of the outdoor attraction's summer festival.

The all-day event boasted more than 25 craft exhibitors in the marquee on the National Trust site, as well as a henna demonstration, a kite-making workshop and an impressive cookery display from a Pampered Chef representative.

Children making kites also had the chance to fly their new creations on the Downs, much to the delight of onlookers.

Visitors also enjoyed a tug-of-war, music from an African drummer and a classical Indian dancer, as well as a farmers market and a history walk with the countryside manager during the afternoon.

Next up at the venue is an Eid festival to mark the end of Ramadhan – the Islamic holy month of fasting.

It will be held on Saturday, September 18 and includes congregational outdoor prayer, halal food and a stone-carving workshop.
