Councillor shortlisted for award
Councillor Tricia Turner
A FORMER council leader is in the running for an award.
Councillor Tricia Turner, the Conservative member for Northill, has been shortlisted in the Councillor Achievement Awards.
She was first elected to the legacy authority, Mid Beds District Council, back in 1976 and she been active in public life ever since.
Councillor Turner was the leader of Mid Beds District Council before taking the reins of Central Bedfordshire Council when the new unitary authority came into existence in 2009.
She stepped down as the leader after the elections last May.
Her commitment to the county has led the current leader, Councillor James Jamieson, to nominate her for the Judges’ Special Award for Outstanding Contribution to Local Government.
The winners will be announced at the award ceremony, which will be held on Monday (February 27) in the capital city.
