Could you name that boat?

Bosses who are spearheading a community boat project want members of the public to come forward with name ideas.

The boat, commissioned by the Bedford And Milton Keynes Waterway Trust will promote its mission of linking the two towns by canal.

At the start of the project the boat will be running passengers up and down the River Great Ouse in Bedford, so local sponsors, including BedfordBID which represents 575 levy-paying town centre businesses have chipped in with funding and support.

Director of BedfordBID, the Love Bedford organisation, Christina Rowe said: “People are always saying we do not make enough of the town’s greatest asset, the river. Here is something which will bring 100s if not 1,000s of new visitors to Bedford.”

You can view an information board outlining the project at the edge of the Bedford Town Bridge or read the full details on www.b-mkwaterway.co.uk

Anyone wanting to Name that Boat can enter by emailing bmkboat@gmail.com or by post to B & MK Boat Competition, 30 St John Street, Newport Pagnell MK16 8HJ before Feb 28th 2013.
