Climbers reach for the summit

Neighbours tackle highest mountain in Western Europe

FOUR neighbours are challenging themselves to go to new heights for charity.

Nick Bayley, Simon Morgan, Kevin Goody and Mike Cazaly will be climbing Mont Blanc to raise money for Keech Cottage hospice near Luton. The friends all live in Bluebell Close in Biggleswade.

Nick, 49, explained why he chose the hospice. He said: "For me it's personal. My next door neighbour had a girl who was about four years old who sadly died. Her parents swore by the hospice, saying what a great place it was."

As well as helping the hospice Nick will be fulfilling his own dream.

He said: "I've wanted to do it for the last seven years."

None of the group have climbed anything higher than Snowden before, so reaching the summit of the highest mountain in Western Europe should be quite a challenge. Mont Blanc, located in the Alps on the border of France and Italy, is more than 15,700 feet high.
