Clanger’s pride shines through
A community fanzine which showcases the positive side of life in Bedford is the latest nomination in our Pride In Bedfordshire awards.
The Bedford Clanger, which was founded by community campaigner Erica Roffe, promotes the town through off-kilter reviews and interviews and has been recognised on a national scale.
From championing the work of local artists, to giving people the skills they need to set up a blog, or social media site of their own, the Bedford Clanger is widely recognised as being at the forefront of citizen journalism.
Erica, who is also a founder member of the We Are Bedford community group, said: “The aim of the Bedford Clanger is to promote all the great things about Bedford. So to be nominated in this category is brilliant because it means we are doing all that we hoped we would do.”
She added: “We are always really keen to work with excellent Bedford people such as David Litchfield and Graham Watson. The whole thing is about talking about all the amazing stuff that Bedford has to offer.”
The Bedford Clanger is nominated for an award in the Raising The Profile Of The Town category.
And there is still time to nominate if you know someone who makes you proud to be from Bedfordshire.
There are ten categories to choose from, from a child who has shown tremendous courage, to someone who goes above and beyond the call of duty to make your shopping experience a good one.
All of the shortlisted nominees will be invited to a glitzy awards bash where the gongs will be presented by Eastenders star Nitin Ganatra.
So what are you waiting for? Time is running out as entry closes on October 1.
