Cash seized at collision
A large bag of cash was seized when police were sent to a routine traffic collision at the weekend.
The money – at least £30,000 – has been subject to a Cash Detention Order and will remain with police pending further investigation.
Officers were called to a car which had apparently hit the cones in the roadworks between junctions 12 and 13 northbound on the M1 on Saturday (September 29).
The driver had seemingly collapsed at the wheel after having an adverse reaction to medication. 47-year-old Mark Holt, of no fixed abode, was arrested. He could give no legitimate account of where the money had come from.
