Budding troops ended months of hard work with an outstanding success, as the 134 (Bedford) Squadron cadets returned from the Arms Inter Service Match (CISSAM) with honours.

This annual event, held at the ranges adjacent to the Army Training Regiment at Pirbright, Surrey, saw teams from the Sea Cadet Corps and Marine Cadets, Army Cadet Force and Air Training Corps, competing against each other in a series of challenging service rifle competitions.

The Bedford team, made up of teenagers FS Jonathan Bell, Cpl Samuel Camino, Cpl Daniel O’Neale and Cdt Gregory Fewkes, fully participated in all 6 of the main shooting competitions.

FS Bell was awarded a Gold Medal, Corps Blue and coveted Cadet 50 Badge as part of the Air Cadet Shooting Team, Cpl Camino and Cpl O’Neale gained bronze medals in the Rifle Pairs Competition, and in the Marling competition against targets at 100, 200 and 300 metres, the team were seventh place out of 52 teams.

Commanding officer Flt Lt Khalid Murad said: “We are delighted with our achievements this year.

“Our cadets train incredibly hard throughout the year and these results are testament to their commitment and dedication to the unit.

“Clearly they could not achieve these results without help from the staff and I would like to thank my team on their behalf.”
