Business heating up for cake entrepreneur

Graduate has launched her own cupcake firm

A marketing graduate who has struggled to find a job since completing her studies has come up with a way to ensure sweet success.

Joelle Eyeson, 23, who graduated from the University of Hertfordshire this year, has started her own cake making business from her home in Orchard Way, Leagrave.

The former Lea Manor and Luton Sixth Form College student has had a passion for baking since childhood, and after struggling to find a job she decided to start her own business, Love Bakes, making cute cupcakes with colourful designs.

A grant from Luton Borough Council helped her get the venture off the ground, and orders are flooding in already for Joelle's creations.

"I'm really into fashion as well and I think that's reflected in my cakes," she said. "I love baking because it allows me to be really creative, and you can just go crazy with the designs. Cakes always make people happy, too.

"I'm going to be running cupcake workshops at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts and eventually I'd like to open my own cafe with a real vintage, girly feel.

"At the moment I'm running the business from home though. My parents have been joking that I'm going to have to pay the gas bill soon."
