Blaze at Midland Road hotel
MBTC-17-09-12- Fire The Grafton Hotel.Midlands Rd, Bedford.
A hotel had to be evacuated after a fire took hold of two bedrooms.
The blaze happened at the Grafton Hotel, on the corner of Midland Road and Grafton Road in Bedford at around 3pm today. (Monday)
Firefighters from the Bedfordshire and Luton Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident with two crews from Kempston and Bedford.
A spokesman for the fire service said: “When the crews arrived they could see flames and smoke coming out of two first floor windows. Fire crews in breathing apparatus went and tackled the fire.
“It was recorded to be under control at 3.38pm, and crews managed to keep the fire contained ti just the bedroom.”
The rooms were severely damaged by the fire. The pub was re-open by 5pm.
