Biker injured after collison with fire engine

Beds and Luton Fire and Rescue Service are investigating the incident

A biker suffered leg injuries after a fire engine collided with a motorcycle in Houghton Regis on Tuesday night, July 27.

The engine, from Dunstable Fire Station, was responding to an emergency call at a residential home or hostel in Westoning Road, Harlington, when it collided with the motorbike shortly after 10pm in Bidwell Hill.

Firefighters at the scene called police and paramedics, as well as a further fire engine from Dunstable, which had trauma-care trained firefighters on board to assist.

There were no injuries among the firefighters. Beds and Luton Fire and Rescue Service has launched an investigation into the incident.

The original Harlington 999 call was dealt with by a crew from Toddington Fire Station. It turned out to be a burst pipe.
