Bedfordshire professor given doctor’s highest honour

A world-leading diabetes expert from the University of Bedfordshire has been awarded a prestigious international honour for his work to improve the lives of older people with diabetes.
Professor Alan Sinclair will receive the highest honour the organisation gives to a doctor. the International Association of Geriatrics and Gerontology 2013 presidential award.
Mr Sinclair said: “I am pleased to have this recognition from the IAGG after more than two decades work in the area of gerontology and diabetes.
“This will encourage me to further develop IDOP so that we continue to make important contributions in the field.”
Mr Sinclair, who is the director of the Institute of Diabetes for Older People, will travel to a ceremony in Seoul, South Korea, later this year to collect the award.
His career has focused on gerontology, which is the study of the social, psychological and biological aspects of ageing and geriatrics, which focuses on the healthcare of elderly people.
