Kestrel Pepsi still full of fizz

Missing bird reunited with owners who had given up the hunt

A lost kestrel which went missing from its Eaton Bray home last summer has finally been found... 80 miles away.

Pepsi the kestrel is owned by the Birds Of Bray team, and vanished in August after being attacked by rooks.

Owners Sue and Chris Mitchell searched for him for several weeks in vain, and doubted that he would ever return to them.

But much to their surprise, in the run-up to Christmas, the phone rang with the news that nine-year-old Pepsi had been found in a garden in Great Wakering, near Southend.

His listing in the Independent Bird Register ensured that he was reunited with his owners as soon as possible.

The kestrel was weak when he was found, but he has been tucking into food packed with vitamins, and he now seems fine.
