Earl of Wessex to visit RAF Henlow
Prince Edward to conduct Royal Review
His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex will be carrying out a Royal Review of the RAF Police tomorrow (Friday) at the headquarters of the RAF Police at RAF Henlow.
Prince Edward's review will include a parade, followed by a series of capability demonstrations from RAF police dogs.
He will then meet members of the RAF Police Association, the Air Training Corps and families of serving RAF policemen and women.
During 2008, the RAF Police is celebrating its 90th anniversary and marking the re-organisation of the force into a single organisation with a new structure and headquarters.
In addition to restructuring the force, the RAF Police has continued to provide an unprecedented level of support to operations with a very high percentage of its personnel deployed world-wide.
The RAF Police provide a vital service, both at home and overseas, protecting the RAF's personnel, aircraft, equipment and infrastructure from a wide variety of criminal activities.
The review will provide a boost to morale in a time of considerable operational activity and a suitably high profile celebration of the RAF Police's history.
The last review of the RAF Police was conducted by the late HRH the Princess Margaret on June 5, 1973 and still constitutes a significant event the RAF Police's history.
