Bedford-built baby buggy is fit for a king

When the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were looking to transport their offspring, they turned to Bedford for a custom-built pushchair.

Now, the royal couple have been spotted still pushing their bespoke baby buggy 18 months after it was ordered.

Out’n’About, based in Caxton Road, were unaware of who their clients were when received an online order from a Carole Middleton. Sales and marketing manager Marie David said some details were missing and got in touch.

She said: “When we called it turned out to be Kate Middleton’s mum!

“They ordered it before it was announced Kate was expecting Princess Charlotte, and as our current colours are quite vibrant and they wanted navy, we were able to use fabric from a previous collection to make a bespoke Nipper.”

Marie said the couple have since ordered a matching carrycot and replacement parts, adding: “We are thrilled to see they are still using it.”

They were seen with the buggy at a horse event in Norfolk last month.
