Beavers from Flitwick Scout Group have completed part of their Faith badge when they were shown around St Peter and St Paul Parish Church by Vicar, the Rev Lucy Davis.

The children found kneeling cushions with details of the scout group and beavers and they were allowed to tour the church and discover more about the pulpit, the pews, the stained glass windows and communion.

Euan Philips said: “Lucy told us the story of the good Samaritan and about helping others. As beaver scouts we help other people.”

Flitwick Scout Group is open to young people (boys and girls aged 6 to 14). They learn about first aid, pioneering and science amongst other things. They also get the opportunity to go kayaking, climbing and camping. Badges they can earn include Communicator, Cook, Outdoor Challenge, Skills Challenge, Home Help, Road Safety, Sports Enthusiast and Time on the Water.

Adult volunteer Nicky Taylor said: “Being involved as a leader is very rewarding. Watching the young people build self-confidence through encouragement and fun, structured activities is a great boost for all concerned.”
