Pupils at Beauchamp Middle School in Bedford welcomed a very special visitor before they broke up for half term holidays.

Pupils greeted Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, Helen Nellis, who presented four pupils with an Arts Award from the Trinity College London, when she visited on Friday, May 23.

Year 8 students Imogen Zuco, Rachel Hunt, Rhianna Maddock together with a former pupil Kezia Johnston, received their certificates following studying for the Arts Award at The Higgins.

A school spokeswoman said: “These awards are a great achievement.

“The pupils studied for this award as a result of being involved in the Fatal Attractions Exhibition which was displayed at The Higgins during 2013.

“The Lord-Lieutenant shared many captivating details about her role, how she was appointed by the Queen and even allowed pupils to view and hold the official scroll which documents her appointment – the pupils were impressed!

“Pupils asked many questions, even if the Lord-Lieutenant would be talking to the Queen about our wonderful school – she agreed!”

Joining the presentation were Susannah Oliver, learning and access officer and Jo Roberts, head of learning and access, from The Higgins, who organised the study of Arts Award.
