Bamberg athletes to visit for festival

Hot on the heels of the London 2012 Games the Bedford Bamberg Sports Festival is set to launch onto venues across Bedford Borough.

Teams from the two towns will be gathering together throughout the weekend to compete and celebrate achievement and participation in sports.

This is the ninth festival where Bedford will host Bamberg - its twinned town.

The festival will welcome more than 150 athletes to
Bedford, to participate in a wide variety of sports including rowing, badminton,
shooting, athletics, tennis and football.

Councillor Doug McMurdo, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture said: “This is a fantastic event, celebrating the true meaning of Sport. Not only does it celebrate the excellent relationship Bedford and Bamberg have.

On Saturday Bedford College will be host to sporting taster sessions at the Bedford International Athletic Stadium, from 10am till 12pm in sports such as football, basketball, tennis and athletics.
