Assault victim had to crawl to get help

A victim of a late night assault in Biggleswade had to crawl on his hands and knees to the station to plead for help yesterday (Wednesday).

Police have appealed for witnesses to the attack which left the victim seriously injured.

Police were called at around 10.25pm to the incident which happened in the area of the train station.

The man was taken to hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Detective Constable Olyver Tomlinson, investigating, said: “The man was walking to the train station when he was attacked by an unknown man. Despite suffering serious injuries in this nasty, vicious attack, he was able to crawl to the station where he was able to call for help.

“We’re trying to build up a picture of what happened in the build up to the incident and find out who was responsible for the attack, and we’re urging anyone with information or who was in the vicinity at the time of the incident to get in touch.”
