Arsonists have struck at a block of flats in Bedford.

Bedfordshire Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the arson attack on the flats on Wednesday, January 8.

The incident happened between 11pm and 11.45pm at a flat in Roise Court, when the offenders used newspaper to start a fire in the lift.

The fire service attended the location and put out the blaze which had caused damage to the floor of the lift and left smoke damage in the communal area of the flats.

Nobody was injured as a result of the fire but PC Lauren Holt, who is investigating the attack, is keen to hear from anyone who was in Roise Court or Roise Street at the time of the incident and may have seen anything suspicious.

If you have information relating to this incident, contact PC Holt, in confidence, on the non-emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.

Alternatively contact independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, or online at crimestoppers-uk.org
