A woman in her 60s collapsed in a Bedford church this morning (Wednesday, February 5) and received emergency treatment by a Magpas Helimedix crew.
At 11am Helimedix Doctor Tom Odbert and Paramedic Paul Sallis flew to central Bedford via the Magpas Helimedix Air Ambulance - after the church organist collapsed and was severely unwell.
The Magpas team sedated the patient - providing enhanced A&E level care. The Helimedix then accompanied the woman to Bedford South Wing Hospital in a land ambulance.
On arrival at the hospital, she was in a serious but stable condition. Her husband is at her bedside.
The helicopter team who flew the Helimedix to the scene was Pilot Richard Eastwood and Crew Member Steve Hunwicks.
An EEAST Ambulance Crew and a Senior Ambulance Officer were also present. All the Emergency Services worked extremely well together, Magpas reported.
A spokeswoman said: “We would like to thank the bystanders for their help with calming and reassuring the patient, whilst the Magpas Helimedix treated her at the scene.”
