BRAVE supporters of a cancer charity abseiled off Bedford College at the weekend.
Nearly 20 daredevils braved the freezing temperatures to take part in the annual Valentine’s Charity Abseil through the day on Saturday, which was organised by charity CLIC Sargent,
Noemie Salvaudon, event fundraising manager at CLIC Sargent, said: “The event was a great success and we had a brilliant atmosphere on the day.
“To date, over £3,000 has been raised, which could pay for a CLIC Sargent social worker to support families for three weeks.
“Our social workers help the whole family, including siblings and grandparents, to understand and cope with the emotional, practical and financial affects of cancer, from the very moment their child is diagnosed.”
CLIC Sargent provides clinical, practical and emotional support for children and young people with cancer, and their families, from the point of diagnosis.
All proceeds from the abseil will help CLIC Sargent provide vital services, including nurses and care professionals in hospital, grants to help families meet extra costs and free ‘home from home’ accommodation close to the main children’s cancer centres.
