A kit called Kat steals football fans' hearts

Four-legged friend takes shelter in clubhouse roof

A strange sound from above gave the team at a football social club 'paws' for thought.

For the loud miaowing over their heads was from a cute little cat that had made itself at home in the roof at the Dunstable Town FC social club.

The friendly feline, called Kat, won the hearts of the team when she started sheltering in the roof space.

Now Kat could be in line for a great transfer, as the club hopes it has found a better new home for its four-legged visitor.

Mandy Orchard, 48, of Northfields, Dunstable, who helps in the clubhouse bar, is delighted that cat owners who visited the club have offered to take in the puss.

So if all goes to plan after they return from holiday, Kat will no longer be a 'football kit'.

Mandy fell in love with the cat after she suddenly appeared in the clubhouse roof.

And she has been making sure that the stray does not go hungry.

Now she is hoping that after the move, Kat settles down in her new surroundings.

She said: "Hopefully, we have found her a home. I really need to get her sorted out before the winter sets in. I wouldn't want her out there then."
