A Masterchef comes to the Cheese Kitchen
A Castle Road bistro played host to one of the stars of Masterchef at the weekend, and he liked it so much he is going to stay!
Alec Tomasso, who appeared on the last series of the BBC cookery programme was looking to open a pop-up restaurant. And when Cheese Kitchen bosses stepped in to help, it led to a job for the budding Hertfordshire cook.
On Friday and Saturday Alec prepared dishes at the bistro, and it proved so popular with diners that he has been asked to stay permanently.
Cheese Kitchen boss Helen Waldock, said: “He was recently looking for somewhere to do a pop-up restaurant and we had a place for him to do it for the weekend.
“The customers asked us is we would keep him on and Alec was delighted to stay on as our bistro chef.”
And Alec is in good company, he will be replacing Joris Larigaldi, a talented chef who will now take up a position at the Michelin starred Paris House, in Woburn.
Alec will serve a special bistro menu on Friday and Saturday nights. And on Wednesday and Thursday nights he will serve traditional British food to discerning diners and families alike.
The Cheese Kitchen opened in 2003, and developed over 10 years into a deli and cafe specialising in cheese.
In 2012 the business added a second premises two doors away as the shop.
The original building now serves food both night and day.
