A Fuller measure from MP Richard

Richard Fuller swapped Parliament for pint glasses on Monday, when he tried his hand working behind the bar at The Embankment.

The Bedford and Kempston MP was serving customers while gaining first hand experience of her pub trade, and learned about the issues that are affecting the industry.

And Richard said he wanted to lend his support to efforts to protect the position of pubs in British society.

He said: “Part of the issue is national trends and changes, but some government measures have made that worse. For example, the last government made it so that tax on beer has to go up by inflation plus two per cent.

“Cheap booze promotions also encourage people to drink at home, when I want people to come back to the pub, which has been part of British culture from Lord Of The Rings through toe Coronation Street.”
