History is being streamed live on the internet as the restoration of Cardington’s Hangar 1 gets filmed for prosperity.

Shed enthusiasts can monitor the re-cladding progress as it happens thanks to time-lapse photography firm Regenology.

The specialist firm is capturing an image of the shed, from the rear, every three minutes - and posting it online.

The plan is to create a film showing the a speeded-up version of the entire restoration process for shed owners, Fosbern Hangars.

Regenology managing director Richard Overton said: “We get asked to provide time-lapse photography for some amazing projects, but Cardington has been something extra special.

“The hangars are steeped in history and form a much loved and important part of the Bedfordshire landscape.”

The multi-million pound project should be completed by next year, in time for the 100th anniversary of the building of the shed.

The 285m-long hangar was originally used to build airships, including the ill-fated R101. During the Second World War it housed soldiers returning from Dunkirk.

Currently, it is being used by Hybrid Air Vehicles as a home for its Airlander airship.
