A teenager from Bedford battling leukaemia has presented a huge cheque to help cancer research.

Olivia Moore, 13, who was diagnosed earlier this year, has handed over a cheque for for £3,000 to Sue Butler, secretary of the Cancer Research UK Bedford Support Group.

The money was raised recently by Olivia’s grandparents, June and Rodney Moore, who have been busy fundraising and held a coffee afternoon and auction in their local Community Hall in Northern Ireland.

Sue said: “The money will go towards further research into this disease which sadly affects so many children.

“However, the survival rates are steadily increasing, thanks to the generosity of people like June and Rodney who raise much needed funds.”
