Sport England funding totalling £119,000 has paid for six spacious changing rooms each containing showers and toilets, two referee changing rooms with private showers and toilets, a disabled toilet, fully equipped kitchen and club room.

Bedford Ladies and Girls Football Club - the oldest and most successful ladies club in the area - have now made Allen Park its home and use the plush facilities and pitches every week for their youth players and have the use of one 11-a-side senior pitch, one 11-a-side junior pitch, one nine-a-side pitch, one seven-a-side pitch and one five-a-side pitch.

Club secretary Annette Harrison said: “Bedford Ladies and Girls FC are very excited about the new facility and, although it is still very early days, have managed to secure the venue to host the Beds FA Fair Play Tournament due to take place on Sunday, July 26.

“This is a yearly event that attracts many teams both boys and girls from U7s to U12s and includes taster sessions with the skills team for all as well as U6 mixed teams, girls U8 and U9 and PAN disability.
