The jury in the case of a former Bedford Borough councillor accused of sexually abusing a disabled woman has been discharged.

Paul Prescod, 50, of Cynthia Court, Wootton, pleaded not guilty to three charges of sexual assault and three of assault by penetration between December 2013 and August last year.

On Thursday Judge Richard Foster told the jury panel that further information has come to light which the police needed to investigate.

The case will next be back at Luton crown court for a mention hearing on December 17.
