Join in the Bedfordshire Walking Festival
Over 80 walks to try
With over 80 walks across the county organisers of this year's Bedfordshire Walking Festival promise that the September-long event will be bigger and better than ever.
For walkers wanting a challenge there is a planned three day 40-mile-long walk along the Greensand Ridge Path and a 16 mile gallop to Gravenhurt.
But for families and those wanting a slightly more leisurely trek there are over 40 walks both morning and afternoon throughout the festival.
In Bedford Borough participants can enjoy train walks and bus walks as well as historical strolls learning about Bedford Castle, the Second World War in Bedford, Bromham and Stevington, Harrold Priory and even a nature walk spotting bats.
The festival is organised by the The Ramblers Bedfordshire Area and is supported by the Bedfordshire Rural Transport Partnership, Bedford Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire Council, Walks4Health, Sustrans Health Walks, The Greensand Trust, Bedford and Bletchley Rail Users Association and Bedford and Milton Keynes Waterways Trust.
All walks are led by experienced leaders and the only costs involved are getting there and parking fees.
