Families are being invited to get in the saddle and join a free, three mile Christmas cycle ride this Saturday (December 20).

It starts at Priory Country Park’s visitor centre in Bedford from 10am.

The first 30 people to turn up will receive a Santa outfit to wear for the event, which has been organised by Sustrans and Bedford Borough Council.

Sustrans project officer Julian Windross said: “We are hoping that lots of families will wrap up warm and join us for this fun-filled festive event. The route is traffic-free and suitable for all the family. It will be quite a funny sight to see 30-plus Santas cycling through Bedford – I’m sure there will be a few mince pie stops along the way.”

During the ride there will be a stop at the Bandstand on the Embankment for children to meet Santa and receive a free gift.

It ends at the visitor centre, where there will be soup, cake and festive cheer.
