A burglar who stole a car and promptly crashed it into a house in Bedford has been jailed for four-and-a-half years.
Richard Saint, 31, of no fixed address, stole a Mini after breaking into a home, in Kimbolton Road, in the early hours of June 26.
But the the bungling thief crashed the Mini into a house in nearby Chiltern Avenue shortly after 4am.
Saint ran off but was linked to the car through forensics.
A sniffer dog also tracked a silver chain which had been stolen during the burglary.
Saint was later arrested and charged with burglary and aggravated vehicle taking.
He denied the charges but was convicted following a trial at Luton Crown Court and was jailed on Tuesday, November 18.
Detective Constable Barry Kerr said: “Saint caused a great deal of misery to the victims of both the burglary and the occupants of the house he crashed into.
“We’re pleased we were able to identify him and ensure he was brought to justice.”
