The Nigerian community in Bedford celebrated their 54th Independence Anniversary during Black History Month at the Multi-Heritage Centre in Duke Street.
The Independence Day was marked on October 1 with a party where Nigerians enjoyed food and cultural fun from the African country, while also getting up to date on events.
Children were shown a Nollywood film – a film of Nigerian culture with Nigerian actors and actresses.
October is nationally dedicated as Black History Month in the UK and this year’s focus has been for Nigerian children to know more about the movie industry. The Nigerian Community Association in Bedfordshire is a registered Community Interest Company whose chairman is Dr Mrs Pamela Bernard.
