Visitors to Beford River Festival were treated to free ice creams courtesy of London Midlands.

Hundreds of free ice-creams were handed out by the team at Bedford St. Johns Station on Sunday.

Crowds flocked to enjoy the sunny weather and entertainment and London Midland also added extra trains from Milton Keynes to help festival goers.

Extra trains were put for the festival, with the first leaving MK ‘waved off’ by Milton Keynes South MP, Iain Stewart.

Once arriving, festival goers then had a short walk to the river with their free ice cream, where they enjoyed a parade, live music and stalls.

London Midland Passenger Services director, Tom Joyner, said: “Bedford River Festival is an important event on the local calendar and we wanted to be sure we added to the excitement and fun on the day.

“London Midland also wanted to make the journey easier for people travelling from Milton Keynes, hence the extra service. We’re delighted people were able to make use of this and hope that – and the ice creams – made their day that little bit more enjoyable.”
