Homeless man attacked in church doorway suffers serious head injuries

A homeless man was knocked unconscious and robbed ina church doorway in Bedford.

The victim, in his 50s, was attacked at about 11am on Thursday, April 2, in the doorway to St Peter’s Church in De Parys Avenue.

He had his mobile phone and wallet stolen.

Detective Constable Guy Steel-Jessop, investigating, said: “This was a nasty, unprovoked attack on a very vulnerable man.

“He was knocked unconscious and suffered quite serious head injuries.

“I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious to call police.”
