When it comes to MPs hanging around the bar, one might reasonably expect that to involve a pint, or glass of wine.
Not for Richard Fuller, who gamely hung from a metal bar at the opening of a new gym on Saturday (October 31).
The Bedford and Kempston MP was invited to officially open Hot Gates Cross Fit Box, in College Street, Bedford, by owner Sam Roberts,
Sam said he hopes the new box (crossfitters don’t say “gym”) will raise the bar and standard of UK crossfitters.
He said: “For the past decade I’ve worked and travelled all four corner of the world and whilst living this lifestyle realised each box I went too became my happy place.
“Even though I was only passing through, I always felt I had support and friendship with the various communities. I wanted to recreate this support, friendship, community and family basis in the UK whilst promoting our core values.”
CrossFit is a training regime which puts people though various movements, performed at high intensity.
Sam said: “To those unfamiliar with CrossFit, a typical session may include a combination of gymnastics, calisthenics, weightlifting and more familiar cardio movements such as running and rowing.
“We also provide sports massage and physio with our in-house masseuse Louise who is trading as “Extreme Sports Massage”.
“The Hot Gates CrossFit’s mission is to improve people’s lives through offering a happy, healthy and inclusive environment built on attentive coaching and well-rounded programming to suit all levels of fitness and ability.”
