Anyone thinking of shaping up has the chance to meet a man who has done just that - in a big way.
Prize-winning bodybuilder Kevan Wilson will be visiting health food store Pumpernickel, at 7 The Arcade, Bedford, on Saturday, February 8, from noon until 2pm where he will be giving advice and tips.
Kevan has spent a lifetime in gyms and competing at various sports and after winning nine major titles in the last five years he has recently ended his competitive career and opened Peak Physique and Fitness Gym in Hitchin.
Pumpernickel is a well-established store in Bedford and sells a wide range of health foods, nutrition supplements, aromatheraphy oils, homeopathic remedies and herbal remedies and many major brands are stocked.
On the first floor, the store stocks a huge range of sport nutrition products such as protein, creatine, weight gainers and energy drinks, and includes many major brands.
Store proprietor Waheed Akhtar, who has a BSc in biological sciences, saw a gap in the market in Bedford for such health products and the shop now attracts customers from about a 50-mile radius.
He has also created his own brand sold from the shop - also called Pumpernickel.
Waheed said: “Kevan trains at a gym and we got to know him through that and we’re delighted to be welcoming him to Pumpernickel where he can meet customers.”
The shop is also looking for about six to eight people to take part in a 12-week health programme, where participants can look at shaping up, weight loss and their dietary needs.
The programme will include input from Jason Gurr who will be making a documentary on the projet.
