Assistance dog training continues thanks to generous supporters

Generous Bedfordians gave more than £5,200 to a charity which trains dogs to help people with disabilities.

The Dogs For Good Bedfordshire group hosted a number of events last year, including car boot sales, dog shows and sponsored walks, to raise the cash.

The group has given it thanks to “everyone within Bedfordshire” who has supported their efforts.

Community fundraising manager Stephanie Lawless said members also worked hard to spread word about the work the charity does.

She added: “We’re very grateful to all the group members for their hard work.”

Once trained, a Dogs For Good pooch can support adults and children with a range of disabilities, and children with autism.

The charity also provides advice for families to get the best out of their pet.

To date, Dogs For Good has trained nearly 800 assistance dogs, and currently has more than 300 working in England and Wales.
