Local lads the CC Smugglers will be giving a headline performance in Bedford this weekend, courtesy of The Pad Presents.
Along with special guests Buffo’s Wake, the Smugglers will be on stage at Esquires on Saturday, November 22.
This year has been an incredible one for the Bedfordshire lads, seeing them play nearly every major UK festival, from Glastonbury in June, to Bestival in September, culminating in this headline slot in Bedford before things take a major turn in the New Year with the release of a new EP and the fruits of a new album.
A recent guest session spot on BBC Radio 2 with Bob Harris, playing the official Children in Need launch for Terry Wogan, and even a summer freestyle busking session with the legendary news reader Jon Snow have further pushed these local lads into public consciousness.
The boys are also booked one week later for a live session on BBC Radio 6 on Sunday, November 30 for the Cerys Matthews show. With so much in the band’s favour, 2015 looking very much like it could be the year of the Smugglers.
Support on the night is specially selected by CC Smugglers themselves, harnessing a bill together with Buffo’s Wake. The band are best described as a twelve-legged beast hatched in the murky backwater of Brighton.
Armed with accordions, violins and a bucket full of gusto, they waltz, tango, mosh and breakdance their way through a wide range of eastern European punk rock cabaret, with tales of debauchery, deformity, zombies, incest, anatomy and sweet, old-fashioned horror.
Tickets are £8 in advance from Seetickets, Boutique Planet and Bedford Esquires and doors open at 8pm. Visit www.thepadpresents.com and www.ccsmugglers.co.uk
