Year 1 and 2 gymnastic teams from Milton Ernest Lower School have won the 2014 Regional Key Steps gymnastics competition.

The event was held at Brentwood School in Essex and the pupils competed against teams from across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. The team qualified for this competition by finishing in the top two at the county finals. They were joined by Castle Lower School who won the county finals and came 4th at the regionals.

Teams had to perform a gymnastic routine where they were scored on their skills, formation changes, dance and synchronisation, and each gymnast had to perform two vaults.

Harley Dowe, PE co-ordinator at Milton Ernest Lower, said: “Both myself and Karen Winter, teaching assistant at Milton Ernest who supports PE, and Nicola Mason, teacher from Castle, are very proud of both teams. Pictured is the Milton Ernest team with their trophy.
