Goodbye to 'the love of my life'

Family and partner bid goodbye to popular Bedford man Claudio Borrelli

A father-of-two who died last week has been described as "the life and soul of every party" by his family.

Claudio Borrelli, 33, was a well-known figure around Bedford and Kempston where he had lived all his life.

He was a second-generation Italian whose parents Giuseppe and Maria came to England 35 years ago.

Mr Borrelli, who lived in Stephenson Road, had been with his partner Leah Carter for 21/2 years and they had been planning to move in together.

She said: "He was a good man, a hard worker who just got on with everybody.

"He knew so many people through work and through sport. He was just someone that everyone remembered.

"Claudio was the life and soul of any event – when he arrived was when the party started."

She added: "From when we first met the two of us just connected straight away. My family are devastated that he has gone, too.

"We were going to get married in 2012, to tie it in with the Olympics.

"The two of us wanted to have children, and if we had a son we were going to call him Luca. We were going to move in together later this year.

"He was the love of my life. There is no one else out there."

Mr Borrelli died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday last week.

He had two children from a previous relationship, a 15-year-old daughter called Danielle and a nine-year-old son called Lewis.

Danielle has set up a tribute group to their father on the social networking website Facebook.

It now has more than 700 members and many messages paying tribute in both English and Italian to "a friendly, happy guy, so liked and loveable".

Mr Borrelli was working at a forklift driver for science firm 3M in Hudson Road before his death, but had previously held a number of jobs including working as a barber.

The former St Thomas More Upper School student was also a keen footballer who had played for several local sides as a centre-forward.

His sisters Sonia and Nadia Borrelli said this week: "He was someone who just got on with people of all ages.

"His family was such a big part of his life, but he also had so many friends.

"He will be missed by the whole family, including all of his nephews and nieces."

Claudio Borrelli's funeral will take place on Tuesday, March 16 at St Francesca Cabrini Church in Ashburnham Road at noon.

Friends and well-wishers are invited to the service. Flowers can be sent via Arnolds Funeral

Service.
