Costumed commuters took a terrifying train ride for Halloween on a spooked-up service running the Bedford to Bletchley line.

Witches, wizards and other petrifying passengers joined the Fancy Dress Express on the Marston Vale Line for half-term fun.

A team of seven volunteers and a creepy conductor made the ghost train a ride to remember last Wednesday (October 28) as they handed out goodie-bags. A face painter and balloon modeller also worked hard to keep everyone entertained.

The special service was arranged by the Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership in association with London Midland.

Marston Vale Community Rail Partnership Officer Stephen Sleight said: “The Ghost Train is a popular event in the Community Rail Partnership calendar. We had one of our best events yet with four lively trains, and many families taking the opportunity to travel on the Marston Vale Line and visit Ridgmont Station Heritage Centre for the first time. A number of regular passengers enjoyed a journey home with a difference too!”

London Midland Head of West Coast Mainline services Terry Oliver added: “London Midland is proud to have supported this fantastic event.  It was a brilliant day and the kids really enjoyed it.”

The Partnership will be running special events throughout 2015, including a Santa Special on December 12.
