Boys and staff at Bedford School enjoyed a culinary treat when celebrity chef James Tanner joined them for the day.
James visited the school to inspire pupils to enjoy ‘fresh food from scratch’, by cooking them Chicken Yaki Udon for lunch.
Working with the school’s chefs, James prepared the ingredients before stir frying the meal in font of the boys at the wok station.
In the afternoon, a number of boys from the Prep School’s popular cookery club, The Hungry Boys’ Club, were treated to a up-close demonstration and top tips from the TV chef and restauranteur.
He showed them how to make one of his favourite childhood desserts, a banana split with fruit, ice cream, dark chocolate and crunchy biscuit topping, which was an instant hit.
The boys went home with copies of the recipe, and the knowledge and inspiration to take their cooking to the next level.
James’ visit last Thursday was part of his role as an ambassador for the school’s caterers, Sodexo,
